DG and Explosives Licences

When a Western Australian site proposes to store and handle large amounts of dangerous goods or any amount of explosives, a licence is required.  Also, licence amendments are required to increase onsite storage of DGs and explosives above an already licenced amount.

Atomic DG is accredited to provide assessments and licence applications for the following Classes and Divisions of dangerous goods:

• Class 1 Explosives and Security Risk Substances (ammonium nitrate products)
• The following Classes & Divisions in bulk and package storage
  • Division 2 (flammable, toxic, inert, and oxidising gases)
  • Class 3 (flammable liquid) and Combustible Liquid
  • Division 4 (flammable solid, spontaneously combustible and “dangerous when wet) substances)
  • Division 5 (oxidisers)
  • Division 6.1 (toxic substances)
  • Class 8 (corrosives)
  • Class 9 (miscellaneous dangerous goods and articles)

We guide our clients through all stages of the licencing process, making their life easier by:

• Listening and understanding the desired outcome for the DG project,
• Providing initial advice on DG compliance, and identifying any threats to achieving it,
• Developing a Dangerous Goods/Explosives Site Plan and detailed drawings of the proposed storage and handling system,
• Completing an assessment of the proposed storage and handling system for compliance with Australian Standards (using drawings or an inspection of an existing system),
• Providing a written report of the compliance assessment,
• Generating other supporting documents where required, such as Emergency Plans, Explosives Management Plans, or Security Plans, and,
• Preparing a licence application package and issuing to the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation, and Safety.

Clients are continually engaged throughout the licence application process, to ensure they understand how DG Regulations and Standards apply to their site, what their compliance obligations are, and when their licence is likely to be issued.
